Top Ten Tuesdays - Things I Love That Are Welsh

Topic chosen by the overlords of Top 10 Tuesdays, to celebrate St. David's Day, as he is the patron saint of Wales.

I found this through this blog here, which I found through the A to Z participants list:

http://suddenlykateshow.blogspot.com/

1.  The Flag - Not something boring like color fields or stripes. No. Somebody actually bothered to draw a picture.

2.  Second Severn Crossing - Maybe you're hip to the London scene, but you don't dig living in England.  Shack up in Wales and whenever you feel the whim, hop on the Second Severn Crossing.  Cruise into England and everything will be groovy.

3.  The Old Court House, Ruthin - How old?  It's been there since 1401, which makes it a few years older than the White House in the U.S.  It's now a bank, though.  (Insert deep philosophical statement here.)

4.  Roald Dahl - A squadron leader for the Royal Air Force during World War II, he also wrote a few books.  Such as these:

5.  Anthony Hopkins - He won the 1991 Best Actor Oscar, for portraying Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs.

6.  Richard Burton - Nominated seven times for an Oscar without winning.  Perhaps more famous for marrying Elizabeth Taylor. Twice.

7.  Shirley Bassey - Singer of three Bond movie themes, her place in history is etched in stone.  Or is it etched in gold?

8.  Bonnie Tyler - Nominated for three Grammys  in the mid-1980's.  "Total Eclipse of the Heart" went to #1 in the U.S. and the UK.  So let's listen to this one instead:

9.  Tom Jones - This gent was also one of the chosen few to sing a Bond theme - "Thunderball".  Here's "It's Not Unusual", which went to #1 in the UK and #10 in the U.S.

10.  Catherine  Zeta-Jones - Won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar in 2003, for her role as Velma Kelly in Chicago.    Also starred in The Mask of Zorro and Traffic.  Has been married to Michael Douglas since 2000.

  1. I love your this flag. Canada's flag is so boring. Hopkins also wrote a waltz and Andre Rieu showcased it..it is quite good so I hope you get to listen to it. Richard Burton was a great actor and considering how often he was up for the Oscar, they should stop talking about Leo. I loved hi in the film,Where Eagles Dare.

    1. At least you got a leaf. There are more boring flags out there.

I liked Burton in that one and in The Spy Who Came In from the Cold. Yeah - seven noms and no wins had to hurt.

  2. But Elliptical Man, it says you're in California...lol.

Apparently, I like things that are Welsh, too.
