Film Friday: Elliptical 100 (9)

 



It's been in the news a lot lately for the wrong reasons.  But once upon a time, New York City wasn't such a dumpster fire.

-  Kate Jackson was offered the role of Joanna, but couldn't do it because of scheduling conflicts with Charlie's Angels.  Faye Dunaway, Jane Fonda, and Ali MacGraw turned it down.












Based on La Femme Infidele.  

Directed by Adrian Lyne.

Released in 2002.

-  There were five different endings shot. 












Directed by Oliver Stone.

Released in 1987.

-  Stewart Copeland, of the Police, composed the score.

  2. Seeing Kramer vs. Kramer right after you talk about Woody Allen is interesting; Meryl Streep recently talked about how Dustin Hoffman was so committed to imposing his idea of method acting that he was harmful to her and to their young co-star Justin Henry.

    I'll guess Apocalypse Now for the question.

    1. I knew Streep had issues with some of the stuff he did. I did not know it extended to J. Henry.

      De Niro was big on method acting, but a lot of that was preparation: learning Sicilian for Godfather 2, learning how to play the sax for New York, New York, adding all that weight for Raging Bull, etc.

  3. I don't think that I've ever seen Unfaithful mentioned on anyone's list of favorite films before. It's not one for me, but do like seeing someone daring to be different with their list.

    1. Yeah. I don't think it's in my top 100. But I like it and my list was light on movies with female leads.
