Got a package full of swag from Kerry, of Cards on Cards.
Let's look at some highlights.
- The only SS in MLB history to have two 30-30 seasons.
- Cleveland's all-time Saves leader.
- Not all heroes wear capes.
- Fingers played for Modesto when the team was the Reds.
- Rodriguez played for Modesto when the team was the Nuts.
- Some say he's the best hitting first baseman since Lou Gehrig.
- Hope he doesn't run slower with that Super Bowl ring on his finger.
- Sometime love don't feel like it should! (He's #1 now. Obviously.)
- Coins. 29 All-Star nods between the two of them.
Had to look up Fingers and the Modesto Reds thing. Looks like he pitched for them in 1966 when they were a KC A's affiliate. Then in 1967 (to 1974) they became affiliated with the Cardinals... but kept the Reds name. Kinda weird that they didn't just become the Modesto Cardinals... or adopt a completely different nickname.
ReplyDeleteYeah. The Reds thing was strange. Luckily, it was before my time. When I was growing up, they were the A's and a farm team of the Oakland A's.
