A to Z Challenge: Reflections

My Favorite Posts:  C, P, W, and Y.  Only W is my own material, which is a bit concerning.

My Worst Posts:  E, F, L, N, and X.  Too much navel gazing.  Attempts at minimalist poetry that didn't quite work.  My humor amuses me more than others.

A to Z Blogs to Visit:

What I liked:  The combination of structure and looseness: I've done A to Z type stuff before, but it's been more narrowly focused.  I found some blogs to follow.  About three weeks in, I learned how to pre-schedule posts.

What I Didn't Like:  Various issues related to commenting on other people's blogs.  People feeling socially obligated to comment on my blog.  My own mediocrity.  Feeling like I had to censor myself a few times.

Random Notes:  My attempts at humor fell a bit flat.  My writing didn't seem to go over very well.  Most of my attention seemed like it was due to people feeling socially obligated.

If I'm still blogging in 2017, I will probably do it again. Maybe with a theme.

  1. Thanks for the blogger love, E Man!

I think sometimes humor is hard to convey via written word. I mean, I know it can be done, but I think it's not always easy to achieve. So often what makes something funny is vocal inflection and facial expressions.

I'm glad our paths crossed! Have a good one, E Man!

  2. poached eggs and toast... i think i've an attachment because of the breakfasts mom used to make for us when we were kids, that was one of my favorites. you cut up the egg and toast and mix them up. it's so good.

julia gilmore's a canadian painter. she was the featured artist for this year's woodlands waterway arts festival. i updated the rq post so it has an image of the painting i bought and a link to her site.

i put a link to sanuk on the post, too. their flips are made of yoga mat material. they're pretty comfy.

  3. I hear what you're saying about the humor. I often get my own humor better than others do and instead of evoking laughter because I said something funny, I tend to upset people who thought I was being serious or cause laughter of derision from those who think I'm an idiot.

I censor myself a lot. If I wrote what was really on my mind then everyone would probably be mad at me.
