Weird, no comments? My favorite baseball player is Rod Carew. The game has changed so much since he played, with the emphasis on power, that I don't know what kind of role he would have played in today's game. But cmon, he could put the ball in play! Still a valuable ability in my book, even today.
ReplyDeleteHis career BA was .328. So there should be a role. But it does seem odd for a first baseman to be a contact hitter. If he stayed at second, it would seem more normal.
