A to Z Challenge: Bookish Thoughts: H

H Is for High School English Class

There are certain tomes that will always be tainted by the stench of authoritarian conformity, under the false veneer of pre-collegiate academia.  I speak of Romeo and Juliet, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, 1984, Animal Farm, Brave New World, Bored Lord of the Flies, To Kill A Mockingbird, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass.  I speak of death - death of the heart and of the soul.  Kindly avert your gaze from my misty eyes, dear reader.

I would sooner recommend nothing than something from this dastardly mind control scheme, but if you insist:

  1. The only required reading I had to do in high school were: Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Hiroshima, Canterbury Tales, and The Great Gatsby.

I still have yet to read To Kill a Mockingbird. i haven't read Alice in Wonderland either.

    1. I knew I hadn't remembered all of them, and The Canterbury Tales is one of the ones I left out. Meh.

      I haven't read Hiroshima.

I read The Great Gatsby on my own, and wasn't impressed.

  2. I read a lot of Shakespeare in high school. I still really don’t like Shakespeare. His stuff bores me.

Aj @ Read All The Things!
