We seem to be hitting the hard part of the challenge.
I considered "On the Beach" (a short story), opinions, others, On the Road (Jack Kerouac novel). I don't know why I can't fix the spacing. But anyway...
Only
only a year
spring to spring
only moments
across a counter
only poems
instead of love letters
only a customer
fading like a memory
only nothing
across a counter
only poems
instead of love letters
only a customer
fading like a memory
only nothing
This is another poem with a hint of sadness. I think of the Roy Orbison song"Only the Lonely". My ex used to work at Radio Shack years ago and there are some customers he will never forget like the Cat Urine twins, Capt. drooly and the man who wanted his batteries in his hearing aid changed and when he took out his "hearing aid" it turned out to be an onion core...not kidding! I won't even mention the man who wanted batteries for his hopping penis..oops I guess I did mention it:)
ReplyDeleteHa. I like to think I'm a notch above those types.
