A to Z Challenge: U

A simple rhyming poem for today.

Underwhelmed

I read the acclaimed poet’s verse.
To be fair, I’ve read much worse.
I stepped from rhyme to rhyme
Down the path of a bygone time.
But I left the road disappointed
By his greatness so anointed.
For while I walked from line to line
I did not wish the lines were mine.

  1. Interesting point of view. Are you speaking of a real situation or merely hypothetical? Just curious. There are several things mentioned that remind me of a poem i had to recite in freshman english.

  2. I liked this one. So much out there is supposed to be great but it really isn't all that great.

    1. Yeah. I read it a lot, but even my favorite poets are inconsistent.

  3. This is great! I love the humour and you are right about certain poems especially some famous ones.
