- Two cards means I saw the player play for both teams.
- My memory for specific games sucks, so it's possible I omitted a deserving player. But I know I didn't see Rivera when I saw the Yankees at Petco and I'm about 90% sure Jeter was injured. So I don't know who's making this team other than a starting pitcher.
- I don't call for blog bat-arounds, because readers can use my ideas whenever they want as long as they're not monetized. But this would be a good one, I think. At least for the starting line-up, if not the whole team. Ha.
- Card images from TCDB, per usual, and all are cards in my collection.
I could probable cobble together a lineup if I included Spring Training games I've seen. Outside a few key moments, I'd have trouble remembering specific lineups...
ReplyDeleteCool idea for a BBA. I wish my memory was better. There are a handful of guys I remember seeing play like Ichiro/Gwynn and any 80's/90's A's or Giants guy like Righetti, Rickey, and Bonds. But everyone else would be an educated guess... since I just don't remember.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I’ve never really seen any players play in-person where it’s a blur, but have been to my share of MLB games over the last 25 years and I’m not going to say it counts for this exercise, have gotten countless guys to sign something in-person.
ReplyDeleteInteresting read!
ReplyDeleteWow, I really don't know who I have and haven't seen. Did I ever see the Reds with Bench, Morgan, and Rose play? Not sure. Gosh, did I even go to a Mets game while Piazza was there? I haven't gone to all that many games post-college. I took my Dad to a Yankee playoff game which I think was in 1996 against Texas...if it was game 1 I didn't see Mariano, if it was game 2 I did.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm reasonably sure I can put together an infield of Albert Pujols, Ryne Sandberg, Alex Rodriguez, and Miguel Cabrera. And Jeter on the bench! I know for sure I saw Hank Aaron and Willie Mays in a Mets-Braves game late in their careers, so that's two thirds of the outfield covered. Let's throw in Reggie Jackson too, I saw his first home game as a Yankee. Gary Carter I know I saw, so he'll be the catcher. Jim Rice DH. And Tom Seaver and Steve Carlton as pitchers. Again there's probably some other good ones I don't remember seeing, but that's a pretty darn good team if I do say so myself!
Yeah. That's quality.
