A Musical Interlude

Consider this my defense of country music.  Ha.

Ten songs - no artist repeated.  Plus one more because one of the ten is Vevo.  Bah.

I Feel Lucky - Mary Chapin Carpenter
Pancho and Lefty - Willie Nelson and Bob Dylan (though more famous with Merle Haggard)
Friends in Low Places - Garth Brooks
A Thousand Miles from Nowhere - Dwight Yoakam

Festivus

I got a lot of problems with you people!

-  Bloggers who post cards in groups so I can't read the players' names.

-  Bloggers who do entire posts on the same set without being clear what set it is.

-  Bloggers with difficult want lists.

-  Ultra Pro for not making binder sheets with slots for ho cards.

-   Cards without the player name on the front or on there but difficult to read.

-  Minis.

-  That blogger who posted an ode to Colin Freaking Kaepernick.

-  Fake auto cards.

-  Unlicensed cards.

-  James Lofton for not signing that card I never got around to sending him.

-  Ryne Sandberg for not having a Phillies card.

-  Panini for crappy customer service. Non-existent even.

-  Box breakers.

No more give-aways for you!

until 2021

Incoming

So Chris (The Collector) sent me a stack of cards:  basketball, Phillies, and Eagles.

-  Clyde the Glide

-  An Italian David Robinson.  Il Admirali.

-  Dr. J's first pro team.

-  The primary catcher on the Phillies' 1980 title team.

-  A story about Mike Schmidt hitting a speaker and having to settle for a single.

-  The starting first baseman on the Phillies' 2008 title team.

-  One that got away.  Or was sent away, because Buddy didn't have the patience for his shenanigans.

-  Vick without the off-field stuff?

-  My father went to Villanova.  A few years before Westbrook did.

The Weekly Clean-Up

-  So I bought this card from my dealer:

-  I received a surprise PWE from friend of the blog Ken - 18 shiny Bowman Chrome football cards from 2005:

I don't know why we can't see their names on here but I can see them on the actual cards:  Kurt Warner, Steve McNair, Andre Johnson, Fred Taylor.  Others include Carson Palmer, Aaron Brooks, Matt Hasselbeck, and Eric Moulds.

-  I watched Season Two of Game of Thrones.

-  YouTube has several Bond movies for free now.  Dr. No, From Russia with Love, and Goldfinger are included.

-  I received a bundle of cards from Chris (The Collector).  I'll show them in a future post.

-  I tweeted at Taron Armstead.  He did not respond.   #FlyEaglesFly

Targets

People have asked what I'm collecting, so here's a target list of sorts.  Some are more realistic than others.  Maybe we can trade some time, or maybe you're just here for the pictures.  Olivia and let live, I say.

1982 Donruss Diamond Kings:  I have 18 of 26.   I need Rose, Trammell, Zisk, DeJesus, Kingman, Fisk, Ozzie Smith, and Singleton.

1983 Donruss Diamond Kings:  I have 17 of 26.  I need Fingers, Reggie Jackson, Palmer, Stargell, Rickey Henderson, Carlton, Bench, Joe Morgan, and Yaz.

Super Bowl MVPs:  Jim Plunkett as a Raider and two Terry Bradshaws.

Curt Flood:  1970 Topps or 1970 O-Pee-Chee

Tony Gwynn:  1983 Donruss (RC), 1983 Fleer (RC), or autographed card.

Willie McCovey:  As a Padre.

Maury Wills:  As a player.  I have his manager card, but it's a base stealers collection.  So yeah.

Is that Emily Greinke?  Must be time to talk about pitchers.

AL Cy Young Award Winners:  McLain, Vida Blue (A's), Gaylord Perry (Indians), and Catfish Hunter (A's)

NL Cy Young Award Winners:  Bob Gibson, Seaver (Mets), Fergie (Cubs)

AL MVPs:  Richie Allen (White Sox), Reggie Jackson (A's)

NL MVPs:  Torre (Cardinals), Rose (first Reds stint)

I need a lot of more recent cards from those four categories, but I think I can get them from Cardbarrel.

Larisa's got the Braun, I've got the brains.  Or something like that.
